Early Intervention
At Bowen Public School, our Early Intervention Support Class provides a caring and supportive start for children with disability or additional learning and support needs before they begin Kindergarten.
Our program helps children build confidence, communication, social skills, independence and early learning behaviours in a safe and welcoming school environment. It also involves working closely with families and your child’s regular early childhood educators, so everyone can better understand your child and support a positive transition to school.
How we support
Supporting each child’s development starts with getting to know them well. Our teachers work in partnership with families to understand each child’s strengths, interests, communication, learning needs and the supports that help them feel safe, confident and ready to learn.
We do this through:
- teachers who help children develop early learning, communication, social and independence skills
- play-based and hands-on learning experiences
- individualised support matched to each child’s needs
- calm, caring and inclusive classroom routines
- regular communication with families
- collaboration with early childhood educators and other professionals
- transition planning to support a smooth start to Kindergarten
