The Student Welfare Worker assists our school community in supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students attending Bowen Public School.
This support occurs through:
* providing students, their families and staff with support or referrals for other assistance in difficult situations,
* supplying peer leadership and support programs;
* organising one-to-one or group sessions with students, parents, staff and other members of our school community as requested or required; and
* planning and delivering student resilience and wellbeing services.
The Student Welfare Worker works with school staff to implement a range of activities for students. These have included playground activity programs, vegetable gardens, mentoring and learning support.Parents are contacted before students are referred on an individual basis, and the program is voluntary. The program is also open to parents and families and appointments can be set up by contacting the school office.
The National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace rrelations
